What is Workplacement?
Student studying vocational subjects for the HSC must complete 35 hours per year (in Year 11 + 12) doing mandatory workplacements in a real work situation.
Can you host a student?
Sydney BEP needs to place nearly 2500 senior students from 37 Eastern Suburbs, Inner City and Inner West Schools/ TAFEs at worksites suitable for their vocational courses. The following subject areas require workplacement - Automotive, Business Services, Construction, Electrotechnology, Entertainment, Hospitality, Information Technology, Media, Sports Coaching, Tourism/ Events and Retail.
General Information about Workplacement
- Workplacement is a mandatory component for all Vocational courses for the HSC
- Placements are for one week (35 hours)
- Employers nominate placement frequency. From 1 student per week, per fortnight, per month, per term
- Insurance and indemnity is covered by the relevant educational department
- Students are not paid as this invalidates the insurance. They are regarded as a voluntary worker
